Friday, April 18, 2025 Jerry and Lisa will review Springleik fra Vågå. This flowing dance from Gudbrandsdalen, Norway, has wonderful “dive” in its svikt, and that motion continues in all parts of the dance. See: https://youtu.be/c6EnoYNnJVY?feature=shared
Music for this evening will be played by long-time Seattle dance musicians Folk Voice Band, headed up by Birgit
and Phil Ages. They will get everybody on their feet with fun mixers and easy dances!
Friday, May 2, 2025 Nancy and Jerry will teach Senpolska from Haverö. This is a slow, stately dance from Medelpad, Sweden. The follow’s step is the same as for Senpolska from Torp, and the lead has a simpler turn than in Torp. See www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJoQ-AyMT2s.
The evening will start with the energetic tunes played by Six Feet Back. Members of this group play a number of different instruments, including fiddle, flute, guitar, and turador, which combine to give you foot tapping dance music with rich harmonies. Duet Friends will follow for the second half of the evening, playing lovely tunes with sweet harmonies. Their fiddles are not just any fiddles, and they provide a different feel to the music. You will have to come and dance to their music, which will lift you effortlessly around the room.
Friday, May 16, 2025 Lisa and Elaine will teach Telespringar and Telegangar, from the Telemark region of Norway. Telegangar has a walking step that is easy to learn. These fun dances have lots of partner interaction. The hardingfele music for these dances is hypnotic and mysterious.

Telespringar: www.youtube.com/watch?v=16XtK4y9khI
The music for the evening will be provided by different combinations of six energentic and highly accomplished young musicians. The music will start with the Lilla Lag, led by Elise Snoey. Following this will be a Hardanger fiddle set (Mira Dickey and Elise Snoey) that will pair perfectly with the dances taught. The final group will be four musicians—three fiddlers (Elise, Mira, John Parejko) and one guitarist (Patrick Gunning). This evening should not be missed!
